Will I get a birdie? I ask my putter.
Between the ball and the hole, the path is unknown.
I would go ahead and put, yet I am concerned about the grain and the slope: the break is so difficult.
May the worst be at the lip, while the best be in the hole.
Steady the putter, lower my hands, and push forward.
No regrets; fortunately I am not a pro.
People have sorrow, joy, separation, and reunion; balls may face birdie and OB. Golf has been hard.
May I have good luck (in my hands), holing the putt super easily.

Early Tee Time 4
Teed off early by the bay
The Golden Gate Bridge is visible.
Scenery appears in the morning fog.
The view, the game, etc. are all enjoyable.

Early Tee Times 1~3
Teed off early onto the grass.
The 18 holes provide a half-day’s fun.
Laughs and chats continue all the way.
Together good friends compete and play.
2 Early Tee Time 2
Teed off early into the rough.
The 18 holes become like 100 holes.
Slippery greens don’t hold my ball.
Suddenly there’ve been numerous strokes.
3 Early Tee Time 3
Teed off early into the sand.
My ball meets little grass but many beaches.
The clubs in my bag are all cherished,
Yet today my favorite is the sand wedge.

球失 Lost Ball
Tee台、fairway、哈啦,
Tee box, fairway, chitchat;
Bunker, water, goose fat;
FootJoy、Nike、Honma,
FootJoy, Nike, Honma;
Gone with the wind, OB and sayonara.
* This poem is a parody of a Yuan poem titled “秋思 (Autumn Thoughts)”.
